On the lines of its mohalla clinics, the Aam Aadmi Party government will set up 100 dental clinics across the city for providing routine dental services while cases requiring specilaised treatment will be taken care at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) and five such institutes have been planned to be set up in the national Capital.
Addressing the 23rd annual Dental Health Utsav organised by MAIDS, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said currently even cases routine in nature were seen at MAIDS and there was a need to create 100 dental clinics like aam aadmi mohalla clinics where they could be handled while only referral ones should go to MAIDS.
Inaugurating the event, Siodia said these clinics would offer minor procedures, which he said would be a major step towards preventing oral diseases.
MAIDS cater to more than three lakh patients annually and have furthered its outreach services with six mobile dental clinics that serve difficult and underserved areas of Delhi.
The four-day Dental Health Utsav — Delhi Smiles – 2016 — starting from today is an awareness event where there will be novel exhibits and lectures on oral health besides a free dental check up and various competitions for children revolving around this year’s theme “Wholesome Nutrition Healthy Teeth”.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Mahesh Verma, Director-Principal of the Institute, said poor nutrition could lead to all kinds of health issues, including oral health problems such as gum disease and cavities.
